CLOSED: Found this month during daylight feeding on Sedum..

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

I searched in the family Owlet Moths-Noctuidae, but couldn't find an exact match.
A close one is Hoplodrina octogenaria but not an excact match. Difficulty is that the drawings on its wings are so faint..

More likely to be the Large Yellow Underwing, I have had a few lately and they can be very variable. If you saw the wings open they are bright orange under with a dark brown pattern near the bottom. You will normally only notice the underwing colour when they are inflight, or flitting up a window.

Notice the small dark marks near the bottom outer edges, there is also some vertical striping on the lower border.

Here's one of mine, I have had very dark ones and very pale too. They can be disturbed in the daytime, I have found them resting under the grass edge of a flower bed.

I have so many pics of moths lately, had many named but mostly only on the pics when I had transferred them to another folder which I did not burn to DVD, lol, but had them burned from the original folders. Now I have to find them again, along with the sites I found them on!

Another with wings closed.

I feel you're right wallaby! I remember seeing something orangy when it flew from one sedum to the other. I must have lots of them because I see them flutter around the Buddleia at night and at dusk..
And the little marks dark marks near the bottom outer edges are really matching with the ones on yours and the pics I found on the web.
That is too bad you lost all that work of identifying!
I have quit burning picts to DVD's but keep back-ups on an external hard-disk (they are not so expensive any longer) which is safer I think..

Thank you!
