Need help with another one...how to germinate oyama magnolia

Toronto, ON(Zone 5b)

Hi guys,

It's me, Eliz again. Again I purchased seeds of oyama magnolia. I was researching on the internet on how to germinate these seeds and it says on DG's plant files that they MUST be sowed immediately, and they should not be dried out. Does anybody have any experiences with germinating magnolia seeds?

I found this from TreeHelp.com

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 60-120 days
Germination: Can be sown outdoors in the fall for spring germination, sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, keep moist, mulch the seed bed

In general magnolias seeds need to be be sowed quickly.

Magnolia sieboldii grows in warm areas so I'm not sure about cold stratification.

I would clean a few seeds and try them without cold and see if you can get them to germinate. The rest stratification and play it by ear.

Went and looked it up and what I found said 60-120 days of cold.
