CLOSED: bugs on ficus plant (I think) leaves causing leaves to curl

(Zone 9b)

We have a plant that looks like a ficus to me but here in Mexico they can get to be large trees, so I'm not sure it's the same. Anyway, after a week of rain and humidity, some of the newer leaves have little black bugs all over them, causing them to curl up and get brown spots. I can pull off the effected leaves but don't know if I should spray the plant or something else. Any advice?
Thanks.

The image is too out of focus to see any detail on the leaf. You might try spritzing the plant with an insecticidal soap, or simply direct a strong stream of water to dislodge whatever may be feeding on it.

Thanks for answering. Do you have a product you would recommend?

I've used Safer's (see http://www.planetnatural.com/site/insecticidal-soap.html) with some degree of success; you also can make your own - see http://www.care2.com/greenliving/homemade-insecticidal-soap.html and http://gardening.wsu.edu/library/lpro002/lpro002.htm for guidelines on application.
