are not producing seeds at all. also my flying saucers and pearly whites and heavenly blue produced seeds but they were moldy. is it because the rapid fluctuations in the weather here?
or do just some not reproduce.?
why do some mgs not produce seeds?
Marie - The Ipomoea nil are somewhat more particular about conditions than the Ipomoea tricolor and if they are too dry, they will often fail to set seed...water stress is known to produce weak seeds in MG's...
The I.tricolor can go moldy if the seedpods get wet and then do not dry properly for whatever reason...sometimes seeds that have very small embryos and are thin shelled will often mold because the shell is too thin to protect the seeds from opportunistic molds...
Despite the reluctance of some gardeners to supplement with a phosphorus based bloom booster, making sure that the plants have phosphorus in their systems can sometimes make a significant difference in the fertility of the plants and health of any seeds produced...
Hope that helps...
