CLOSED: Insect ID?? Eating my rose buds and gladiola petals

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Something strange has made my garden it's new home. I noticed these the other day and now have realized that they are eating the petals off of my gladiolas and also the buds on my miniature roses. So, my questions would be if anyone knows:

What is it?

How do I get rid of it?

Just how harmful are they?

*here's a picture of the big one...body is aprox. 1 inch in length (the antenna is spotted??)

another picture of 3 little ones (2 on the right, 1 on the left) these ones range in size from aprox. 1/3" to 2/3"

these little fellas are on one of my mini rose bushes which are planted directly in front of a wall of gladiolas

this is just a picture of what is left of one of the buds on my miniature roses. The bud is completely empty of any petals and left behind is a sticky syrup type stuff

*no insect in this picture, posted this one for reference

ANY help would be greatly apreciated!!

it's a little grasshopper of some kind.

The banded antennae makes me think they are katydids - nymphs. Very probably in the genus Scudderia. http://bugguide.net/node/view/212451

Controls would include catching them, watching for the eggs laid in a straight line, overlapping like little tiles and destroying them, or using a pyrethroid as a spray.

This looks like a camel cricket to me. The long legs...put camel cricket in google
and then click "images"...that's what it looks like to me.

Eeeeeek!!! The camel cricket is one scary bugger!!!LOL!!!

I'm thinking, after looking at all the images of Katydids and the Camel Crickets, that my new tiny friends are Katydids. I haven't seen any eggs yet?? but I did spray down my roses with an aphid killer and sure enough when I checked yesterday, the bigger one was being dismembered by a gagillion ants (so I guess the aphid killer worked) I haven't seen any in or on anything else throughout my flowerbeds......sooooo, I'm hoping these won't become a "problem".

Thank you all for your help.
