A Mole crciket or?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I sat here and watched this fella for 15 minutes or so digging a hole. The sand is not easy to clear out of the way. After a few minutes of working on one hole, he scurried around and tried another.

He's a tad longer than an inch and us long legs for his size and moves very quickly in his search for a spot. He also makes little grunting noises when he's digging.

There are two mole crickets in Bug Files and he looks nothing like either. Any ideas?

MollyMc,

Your digger is certainly not a Mole Cricket. I cannot identify it, but it looks to me like some sort of wasp!

This is not the place to seek identifications. We have an Insect and Spider Identification forum here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/bugid/all/
and if you post your pictures there you are much more likely to get your digger identified,

Kennedy
