Dave the Bluebirds must really feel safe around you. Those are some very detailed shots. I hope to polish my skills like this one day. How close can you get to them?

Really beautiful shots Dave...it is nice to see your Bluebirds looking so healthy! The female is just stunning...thanks for posting them.

Fabulous shots, Dave. Rose, you stealing my thoughts again? I was going to comment on how healthy they look.

Hi Meth
When it is as overcast as it was today, you simply don't get the detail unless you get in close. Most of these were shot from 10 feet or less. The first one (the male in flight) was from about 25 feet and the sky had lightened up a little at that moment so it was better than most. Most of the shots from that distance were too fuzzy, if you looked at them close on the computer.

Thanks for your comments, Rose and Margaret. BTW, if you are interested and have time to OD on bluebird pictures, I have started a second photo site on SmugMug. It is similar to my PBase site but it is a lot easier from my point of view so my more recent pictures are going there. I will probably close out my PBase site at some point but the rent is paid there for the next 6 months.

Beautiful pics Dave! I was just looking at that "Bits and Pieces" album;its ashame about the Titmouse toes. I wonder what causes that.

I don't know, Pele. I had a goldfinch with a similar problem a couple of years ago and I posted it on the other forum and Ruth told me what it was and provided a link but as I recall, this bird's feet appear much more pink and swollen than that one. I had a copy of those pics in a gallery on my PBase site but I have begun removing galleries from there and started with the finches gallery. I will look for the original when I get home. It is somewhere on one of the computers.

For those who do not have time to look at those pics, this is what we are talking about. Here is a closeup taken yesterday.

Here is the PBase link, Meth.
