When I was a kid, we called the little tufts of milkweed fluff floating around "Santa Clauses". I don't know if we made this up or if this was a more widespread name. Has anyone else heard of this?
"Santa Clauses"?
Also, we had a legend that you catch a "Santa Claus" that was floating around, make a wish, and then let it go. I had two theories on how this worked. One was that in order for the wish to come true, the Santa Claus had to float out of sight before it landed. The other was that if the seed sprouted, then your wish would come true.
Can't recall them being 'Santa Claus' but we did refer to them as 'angels' perhaps it's because we sprayed them gold and or silver and made angels from them...sorry couldn't help..
I'm late to the party, but I had to say, that is very cute.
:-) Hi Betty!
Since no one else has heard of this, it must be a name my family or kids in our neighborhood made up.
Well then how creative is that!
I've never heard of that either, wish I had!
