Oh gosh I want all of them. I just bought some chicken things out of a thing my grandson is selling. He is 5 years old and his 1st year in school and they have turned him into an Amway child. Oh well I really like what I am getting.

LOL luvs at least he isn't selling candy yet ! oh gosh when its girl scout season oh my its just sooooo wrong !! what i do. lolol :)

lol I hear ya there. yea the right word is YET. I am sure he will be soon. And then when he gets into FFA and 4-H oh gosh that is another thing.

Gosh I remember when the girls were in softball, all the candy we sold and ate. I should be as big as a house.

LOL :)

Red Rosie just lays the biggest eggs I have ever seen. Yesterday I weighed her egg. It was 2.8 ounces. Geesh, that's gotta hurt to lay that!

Lodi, United States

I wonder if that is common with red sex-linked?

My RIR is amazingly consistant in her egg laying and occasionally lays a whopper. And she doesn't go broody!

Kind of scary when they do that. Made me wonder if I should worry or not. Figure as long as they don't blow their egg sack, all is good?

Congrats on the perfect egg layers, ladies!

Did the other Cinnamon Queens you picked up show any correlation to Red Rosie?

Not as much as I thought they might. They are nice birds though. They have more white on them than Rosie does, and their debeaking is nowhere near as brutal - just the top part and not near as far back. I think they have been molting and they look a little scraggly but should fill out well. Already had a nice size egg from one of them yesterday. Are they cinnamons? How do you know?! LOL! I am still not sure what they are....but probably not red star if that is what Rosie is. Her feathers have a slight partridge or penciled look to them for some of them. These girls, in contrast, have very solid light brown feathers with more white underneath. No subtle markings like Rosie's feathers. Not sure what that makes them. Rosie's white is mostly under her belly and around her butt end. These girls have white all over under their brown feathers. I need to take a pic of them...

The Cinnamon Queens? Any thoughts on what they might be?

I don't know what they are either. I have never seen red stars or cinnamon queens. They sure are pretty though.

I'm only saying Rosie is a red star because that's what everyone else on here told me and I'm still assuming they are right! LOL!

Lodi, United States

I don't know if Rosie is a red-star--just that she appears to be a red sex-linked. Different crosses can make a red-sex linked. I think hatcheries just name theirs as propriertary--even if the breeds crossed are the same--they just use their own strains of the breeds. Does that make sense?

I agree with Catscan there, from what I am learning. Just like what we are trying to do with the Americana and the BR. Right?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Bottom line for me is, I don't care what she is. She's my chicken puppy and I love her to bits! And she makes the BEST eggs!

Yeah Rosie !!!
been lurking :)
