My son discovered this interesting creature on a milkweed pod. What is it?
CLOSED: Red beetle with black spots, not a lady bug
That red beetle on your milkweed is called a "Red Milkweed Beetle", oddly enough. There's a whole genus of these longhorned beetles that specialize in eating milkweeds, Tetraopes. I think yours is Tetraopes tetrophthalmus
