CLOSED: What is this tiny bug?

Chennai, India

Hi,

I am new to the insect world and hardly know anything about them. But recently I've started taking photographs of these bugs. I want to post them in my blog but I cannot even identify their names.

Can you help me ID this little bug here? I found it in South India. This photograph was taken not more than 4 weeks ago. Its rainy season here. I found this bug around noon.

It is probably about 2mm in size.

Thanks

This is a flea beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae). Flea beetles used to be placed in a subfamily of their own (Alticinae), but now are considered to be a tribe (Alticini) within the subfamily Galerucinae (skeletonizing leaf beetles). Some species in this group can be very serious plant pests.

thanks so much for such a quick identification. I will post it in my blog today. Do you mind if I mention your name as the identifier? If yes, can you please give me your full name and any link to your blog or website you may wish to give. I am planning to post more photos and the least I can do is to give credit to the identifier and this forum.

Cheers
