I'd never heard of Toby Buckland before either Incomer but then I don't read a lot of gardening books. I guess from what people have been saying he must be quite well known.
From what I've seen of him I haven't taken to him though - a couple of weeks ago he was even telling Joe what to do. I thought that was a bit of a cheek for a newbie. I like Joe and his allotment - brings back all sorts of memories when I use to have one.
I must try and find out how Monty is doing. I hope this stroke doesn't mean the end of his career.
Missing Monty Don?
Thanks for dragging us away from the food subject incomer :o)
Charlie Dimmock...Who's he?? LOL
Now I like Bob Flowerdew too. He's a practical kind of chap and full of good ideas. IMO we don't see enough of him as a presenter. Didn't he used to do a slot in Gardener's World when Geoff was the presenter (or has my memory totally gone ga-ga?).
I haven't really seen enough of Toby to form any kind of opinion yet. I probably even hated *Titchy* when he took over from Geoff (but I consider myself biased where Geoff was concerned).
BTW, what do you all think of that other lady who has a gardening program, I can't think of her name (is it Carol??) She always visits an elderly gentleman (Reg) and she has a little black dog? Do you know who I mean? She always seems willing to get dirt under her fingernails and I quite like her (even though her name escapes me).
Terri
You mean Christine Walkden http://www.christinewalkden.com/
I first heard Christine some 30 years ago when she used to broadcast on LBC radio (I think it was) in London. I was very impressed with her knowledge at that time, and have watched her progress since.
I think she is too honest, unassuming and homely to achieve a high profile role but I still like her a lot.
That's the one incomer...Christine!!
I like her too :o)
