Rosemary?

How long should it take for a Rosemary cutting to root, if it's going to? I had a rosemary branch a friend gave me that I decided to try to root. I cut the bottom tip off, removed the lower leaves, put rooting hormone on it and it seems to be doing well. I got it the Friday before last and it's still green and supple. I want to give it back to my friend as a plant. He's going through a divorce and selling the house, but seems to really like the plant. I thought that if I could root it I could give it back to him as a sign; something of the old in new ground. So, I want to give it to him as soon as possible, but I also want to make sure it's going to survive.

I rooted some in potting soil and it took mine about 4 weeks. I left some in water and they took forever. I was just before throwing the water cuttings away when I saw some roots forming. I hope this is helpful. I don't know of any way to seed up the process. Ibartoo
