From the ones I've seen in my garden before, I'm assuming that's these are assassin bugs / predator bugs / wheelbugs. At least I hope that's what they are and I didn't make a mistake in letting them alone. I'd like to post this in bug files if someone can give me a positive ID. Thanks.
CLOSED: Newly Hatched Assassin Bugs?
Definitely not wheel bug nymphs. These more likely are leaf-footed bugs (family Coreidae) than assassin bugs (Reduviidae), especially if they hatched from the eggs shown in the image.
I began to wonder if I was right after not seeing any black on them. So are they bad bugs?
Not likely - young wheel bug nymphs have the head and thorax mostly black - see http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/trees/wheel_bug_03.htm
Hi all,
I have the same problem with these bugs. I've done a little searching and I agree they are leaf-footed bugs. They have done quite a bit of damage to some late summer bell pepper plants. I blasted them off with water but some of them have found their way back. I also have just set a few fall tomato plants out but from what I understand, leaf footed bugs and stink bugs are prevalent in the late summer/fall. I'm not sure how to eliminate them. ?
