CLOSED: WHAT IN THE WORLD is this thing?

It's a mole cricket, in the family Gryllotalpidae. They're supposed to exist here, but I've only seen them in California

uuugh that is horrible. Those things are so scary to dig up. I don't know the proper name, but I can tell you they are absolutely the ugliest things ever.. don't let one get on you.. they hang on so tight, it will give you nighmares!

I've lived my whole life in MD and never saw a real live mole cricket until last year, but we did. Here was ours from above (its back)
