This is a giant water bug, aka toe biter or electric light bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Belastomatidae) - see http://www.eduwebs.org/bugs/giant_water_bug.htm

Big Rapids, MI(Zone 4b)

Belostomatidae family... Giant Water Bugs... yours looks like Lethocerus sp... maybe L.americanus. A species in Thailand can exceed 4"... and contents are often eaten fresh, after quickly biting the head off..!!
