With all this talk about getting togeher, wouldn't it be nice if we could see how many in our "region" we could get together for a Christmas or New Years gathering? Imput please.
"eyes"
texas, okla., kansas, ark.....please signin!
Sorry to hear that, sis, we'll miss you.
"eyes"
This would be planned around the holidays, not on them. CoCo, TexasLily,
Luvublooms, Amari, Killerdaisy, arptiger....where are you guys?
"eyes"
Toadlily doesn't live far from me and then there's tink76627 also. Around the holidays is usually a bad time around here. Maybe like the first Saturday in Dec. or something.
How about the rest of you Texans. Lets hear from the rest of you so we know just how many Texans there are here. Know there are some living in the Grand Prairie area.
Sounds good to me Coco, and we can all vote on a central location, and make arrangements for a banquet room somewhere. All ideas will be greatly appreciated.
"eyes"
Kansas here. I've read other posts at DG about get-togethers. Even though I'm new here, it sounds like a wonderful idea. However, summer would always be better for me. Maybe next year?
(*~*)
Why not just Texans getting together and finding a place in Fort Worth Or Dallas or somewhere in sort of that area. Not not that familiar with Dallas cause never go there. Our church in Arlington has a nice size gym with kitchen facilities that we could consider as well. Was just a thought. Being a member the deposit wouldn't be that much to use the facility providing there is nothing going on at the time. We need to be hearing from other Texans tho.
EYESOFTEXAS I would like to have a group of seed/plant swappers get together in spring and fall. but.. no one ever takes much notice. I really got some great deals at a swap in whitney it was sponcered by a new herb nursery in whitney.(GOD'S GIFT)no one cared if any one had no plants to share.we didn't want to take them home. it was a "free for all" mint tea was served MMM.a lot of herbs were bought from her that day.her prices and quality of her plants were great!Iwould like to look her up and tell her about daves we could all learn a lot from her.I don't travel far from home. and theres always too much work for one man to do by himself .He's been so good to me the 25 years we've been married!Happy gardening! tink
Tink,
Where is Whitney?
"eyes"
'eyes' you haven't heard of Lake Whitney? It is down by Hillsboro, which is South of Fort Worth.
Don't go down there much Coco, so I guess I never really related to that lake.
"eyes"
Hello, I don't do alot of posting but I'm from Fort Worth and might be able to get away.
Venessa
Glad to meet you vaneesa, keep us posted, we just might get this gig under way afterall!
"eyes"
Well, welcome, Venesse. Always good to seen another Texan joining us.Now, just where have you been hiding? No matter. Just happy to have you here at Dave's Garden.
Blessings
All My Best
CoCo
Not sure DH and I could get away, but we sure will try!
Sounds great to me, would love to meet you-all in person! Sorry I haven't posted a reply sooner "Eyes" but I had the BBQ today and just about the time we where finishing up a huge storm blew in. The lightning was horrible so I stayed off the computer and then after the storm when I tried to connect the phone lines where out. Talk about withdrawal, all day without DG!! I was about to start biting my nails and give up for tonight but low and behold the phone company got it fixed. Whoope! now I can catch up on the forums before bed. Dallas sounds good to me or Fort Worth it really doesn't matter.Just not to close to Christmas or New Years, I have family that comes here for the holidays. Is the get - together going to be for spouse's to? Don't know if DH can make it that time of year, if he has any time off he likes to spend it out at the ranch hunting. But I should be able to, just keep me informed.

Hey ,guys,I am back, too! Unplugged puter due to storms, too.Must've been coming from Tx/LIly's way.But couldn't resist ,so when thunder sounded far in the distance ,just had to check things out, too!Of course in the meantime,I am hoping and praying lighttening don't strike me or puter!
Re 'The Texas Gathering' ,anywhere is fine w/me [FW/D Metroplex area]but no holidays. My only rule is I have to go according to my granny grumps [hope no guys are reading].I am a hermit at that time.At this age ,I am going thru them bad w/a capital B! Plus all the other stuff that goes w/ it! And no surgery for me ,I am going [GOD willing,of course]to my grave w/all my innards!
Hope to make it! And as for being close to Christmas ,an idea here,a surprise present swap would be great!...Jane
Hey JJs, Texaslily, and luvublooms....it's been raining here in the Red River Valley like Coco did a double backflip rain dance!! Of course you can come JSS, and spouses and significant others, too. I think the first of Dec. or after New Years either one would be fine. Would love some more input from you guys as to where you would like to have the get together......just remember, it's gonna be cold then. And I think a "white elephant" gift exchange might be just the order of the day.
"eyes"
Gee, thanks "eyes"- I always knew the things they said about Texans isn't true!!! LOL!!! And even meetig CoCo proves it!! So... maybe I'll try to come- I have to be in New Mexico Jan 9th for my Dad's 90th birthday..so....
Texas, watch out, here I come...maybe!!!! ( You know, this reminds of High school- I always used to crash parties then too!!he,he)
-JSS
Jeannesue....please tell us what all the rumors you've heard of Texans!Itching here ..LOL!
eyesoftexas....Im also a Texan...from NE Texas...one hour from Shreveport, La...would like to meet other gardeners.
Kelly333
Yeah, Jane....you know the one about our hearts, or is it our heads? LOL.
Wingnut and Kelley333 WELCOME.
JSS I would sure love for you to be included and anyone else that can make the trip. We can always make you "honorary Texans" for a day or two before the sheriff catches on to us.
"eyes"
Big -hearted Texans? ...EYES?
Thanks "eyes" I'd be honore3d to be an honorary! LOL!!!
Not everyone would be able to say they were an honorary Texan!! And you know what they say,...."Don't mess with Texas"... (even though I know that it relates to keeping the lone star state clean.... others... well, they just don;t know Texas!)Many texan-nots think it relates to texas thinking they are too big for their britches, so to speak... or that Texas doesn't want to have anythig to do with other states.... but we all know the truth about what great people are Texans!!!
-JSS
Thank you JSS, and you can even stay at my house.......we sure would have some fun!
"eyes"
Sounds great to me!! I'm up for a great time on the lone star!!!
-JSS
Eyes if it is held in Dallas I think everyone should bring me a cutting of their most prized plant. Because I will be supplying the meeting place. One of my relatives was the founder of Dallas. John Neely Bryan. I have several photos of his cabin that is on display in Dallas. Are you familar with this cabin?
I sure am Jim! Right there in Old City Park! That would be wonderful Jim, and maybe you could pick up tiG on the way. We will need to get a dateline,
and it can be spring or summer so more
can enjoy the fun, I'm open to any and
all suggestions. We're really gonna have a good old time!
"eyes"
Pack your bags tiG we're heading to Texas. Jim
Oh goody, goody....now we really have to get some serious planning done! What a shindig we're gonna have!
"eyes"
Yea the get-together is growing! Eyes, spring or summer does sound better to me. It would give everyone more time to make arragements. Keep us posted and if you need any help let me know.
Blessing's,
T-lily ;o)
Yes, T-Lily, and we need for Georgiaredclay to check on
the availability of the location
for us too. Jim???
"eyes"
Why not do 2 meetings, one in early October, and one in the spring. It could be a plant swap/meet each other event. That way there will still be time to get the plants in the ground before it gets to cold. Besides, I have found that if you put the date to far away, some get involved with other things and miss the date. If the meeting is in October, it will still be warm enough to be outside, like at a park....or if it is in Ft. Worth....how about the botanical gardens?
Toadlily
That's a good thought Toadlily! Where are you located? Maybe we could have a Pot Luck, or do a barbeque.....ideas the rest of you?
"eyes"
I am about 35 miles south of Ft. Worth -15 miles south of CoCo. BBQ is ALWAYS a good idea!
That's wonderful, you need to get hold of CoCo 'cause we're planning on having lunch one Sat. in Oct. Sure would be nice if you could join us, and we can get some of the organization done.
"eyes"
Eyes.
I would be glad to help. I am having a bit of trouble with my pc right now (last week had to use public access while my new pc was being built.) I am still having some conflicting programs/hardware so my online status is still up and down. But as soon as my pc is up for good, I will contact CoCo and get the details, thanks so much for the invite!
