CLOSED: Praying Mantis???

Westfield, NJ

I found this is my living room. Captured it and created a small habitat for it. Is it okay to keep these as pets? I put dirt, grass, leaves, some injured ants, a fruit fly and some moss in a glass container and am misting the leaves regularly. So far he has only eaten the leaves and a raspberry. I live in New Jersey. Its about an inch and a half give or take. Is this a praying mantis? Also, it only has one antenna. This may be due to injury but im not sure.

This is a katydid (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae); possibly a bush katydid (subfamily Phaneropterinae) - see http://www.entomology.umn.edu/museum/links/coursefiles/JPEG%20images/Orthoptera%20web%20jpeg/Phaneropterinae.jpg

That is a katydid, JK, maybe one of the round-headed katydids. Someone else will have to help with specifics.

Suunto beat me to it, and with better information.
