Okay. I may be next. Y'all get my back. I'm doing a favor for a guy I know -- and he's paying me by building me a chicken tractor.
Gulp. I'm scared. Tell me it'll be all right.
Ruh roh... I think I hear CF bells...
Sure---sure--you'll be fine.........(anyone buying this?)
OH gosh hun you will be ok, just breathe in and out slowly. CF hit me yesterday go look and see in the #3 chat.
no prob, i got yer back [evil grin]
your people are conspiring i swear LOL
Enablers!!! lol
yup yup yup
Brigid - it will be more delightful than you can even imagine. I have to tell you this in all honesty - I am a happier woman since I got my chickens. That probably sounds really hokey, and it's not that I was UNhappy before. I have a stressful job, and I am in school part time. I am busy, busy, busy. I have a tendency to take on more than I can manage and I get stressed easily. I react by getting snappy with poor DBF, or I can't sleep, or I get anxious about things and run through them in my head non-stop.
Since I got my chickens, I am WAY more relaxed. I can't explain it. I used to dread getting up in the morning. Now I can barely wait to hop out of bed and go feed and check on the girls. I sit down when I get home and hold a chicken on my lap and stroke her and tell her about my day and she just sits there. I am sleeping better, and some of my coworkers have asked me what's up lately because I seem a lot calmer.
I know that probably sounds ridiculous to some folks, but really, it is a side effect of having chickens that I never imagined.
So yes, it will be fine, and you will love it, and they will love you and give you eggs and make you laugh and generally be a source of much happiness for you.
Claire
Especially Lil Red ones with tiny white feathers sticking out ... ;-))
LOOK OUT LILY!, HERE COMES CF!!!! [i'm outta here!]
get back here and face the music tf
You are so right, Dusty! Especially those!
^_^ You betcha!! How is she today??
She's chowing down on carrots, peas, red sweet pepper chunks, and bowtie pasta bits. I made it last night and made extra for today. The hilarious thing is, it also has sweet corn kernels in it. She picks through it and won't eat the corn. Isn't that odd? She is just clucking up a storm this morning. :-)
LOL.. One smart chickie!!! I am soooo glad she is doing okay...We need LOTS of update Pics of her....^_^
EVIL
i think he's cute! ;-)

If that's the Chicken Fairy, I would not want to meet him in a dark alley!! Where are his feathers? Highly suspicious.
well, maybe that isn't him... maybe that is the Ostrich Fairy... or perhaps that is the Australian rep?... personally, if i were a fairy, i wouldn't be posting MY picture...
WOW! Come back to work after the weekend, and I really find out who my friends are! (I think I dated that guy, Chicken_Fairy... he's not nearly as warm and cuddly as he looks...)
The SE Texas State Fair is just around the corner, people. I expect you ALL to come down here and see me through it. Claire, while you're here, you can probably find a chicken you don't have!
Salvidor Dali is not the CF. It is a ruse to confuse us.
Oh, that chicken fairy is clever.
Well at least there's no F in Salvidore Dali... Still...
you guys and gals are nuts just nuts.
Is there a quail fairy? What about a duck fairy? My property has a pond on it. I was thinking about building a duck house and getting ducks (this is for NEXT YEAR, in case the duck fairy is listening).
L2G2 (and C3PO) Are you wanting to distance yourself or join in, pray tell? ;-)

I am nuts ask my kids. and my grands.
Here's hoping luvs doesn't want distance -- it's too late for ALL of us for that!
We got the chicken pneumonia and the birdy wirdy flu.
Luvs is MUCH the best name. I'll have to take that liberty from now on...;-)
Speaking of chicken fairies, I posted this in chicken chat, but will post here too...
OK, so this morning I found a lady on my Craig's List who wanted some chickens. She wants 4 hens. She only wants eggs and wants them as pets, not for eating birds. I offered her 4 of my chicks. She is going to take them and trade one out if it's a roo. I'm so excited to share!
So, now there is another poster on Craig's List who lives really close to me and she has the following for sale:
Light Sussex ($12)
Speckled Sussex ($9)
Javas ($15 - 20 depending on age)
Creme Brabanters ($10)
Blue Laced Red Wyandottes ($15-20 depending on age)
What should I get? They are all laying.
I was thinking 2 speckled sussex, a java, a creme b, and 2 BLRW. What do you think?
Claire
I think you need medication, Claire! ;}
Ooooo, I'd take a wyandotte any day. There's just something about them I like.
Speckled Sussex! Speckled Sussex! Maybe a Java and a Light Sussex--if you got a good BLRW and a rooster you could clean up on eggbid.
Claire, you'd better grab up the BLRW quick. Love those colors. Also, I wanted to add that if the duck faery position is available I'd like to fill it! EG ; > )
Claire if it were me, I would take them all :) I have a number this morning to call for some hens. Gosh I hope she does not have alot to sell. :)
Claire, you need to get a duck habitat established this fall if possible. find native TALL grasses [4-8 feet] and when they tassle, get some seeds and sow them!
brigidlily, i need to google and see where you are, i may need a road trip!
patchouli, sounds like they need a waterfowl fairy!
oh use the new google maps thing
Behave yourself, TF! The chicken tractor is not built yet! ;)
Did I ever mention how ABSOLUTELY adorable baby ducks are?
oh, my klittle toddler was just loving having a blue swede nuzzle his neck today! and he siad "duckie" about ten times!
googling Lumberton
