CLOSED: Butterfly/Moth ID ..

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hi

This majestic winged creature lit on a Sunflower yesterday. I was able to get 2 pics before it decided to fly away. Have looked in my "Bug Books' but can;t seem to identify it.
Any guesses ?

It might be a Fritillary of some kind, a very light-colored individual.

I too would think it's a Fritillary - but which one.

I spent some time looking, and came across these:

WOW .. I guess it was a Great Spangled Fritillary :-) Haven't seen him/her again .. am just everso thankful that it appeared and stayed long enough for me to grab the camera a click a couple of times :-)

Thanks for all the information.
Appreciate it.

PS .. from what I gather the little creature was really pushing it's Northern boundaries ? I always wonder about that with regards to the different species we are seeing up here now .. 'Global Warming' no doubt ..

Anyone know what kind of spider this is? Found in my basement a few minutes ago, want to know if it is venomous or possible poisonous. Thankyou
