Thuja in bubbler ?

I have a thuja occidentals in my bubbler. It is getting a slime on it. Other cutting such as hydrangeas are doing good. Should I put a fungicide in the water? Has any one had success with propagating Thuja.

Isn't thuja easy to start by just sticking it in some good potting soil?
