Is this a shield bug of some kind? It is only on my hyssop, but it is really starting to take over the plant and I wonder if I should get rid of it? I found a picture of a cabbage bug that looked similar, but I don't think that was it? It is shiny black with a duller gray rear end and red or sometimes whitish markings. Thanks for any help.
CLOSED: Shield Bug on my Hyssop?
These appear to be twice-stabbed stink bugs, Cosmopepla lintneriana (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/33131183 for an image.
That's exactly it, thank you so much. Looks like they get pretty invasive in my area, so I think I'll start dropping them into my cup of soapy water with the Japanese Beetles.
