I just planted them in the beginning of June and I've never seen these guys before. What are they??

Box Elder Beetle?

They don't look like the box elder bugs around here. The ones that we get have a pointed oval shaped body.
I have tons of them sometimes. Yuck.

It's a Soldier Beetle, maybe a Goldenrod Soldier Beetle Chauliognathus pensylvanicus, but there are other similar species. The adults eat pollen.

Thanks, claypa!! I'm so glad I didn't obliterate them. Hubby wanted me to wipe them out because they are "bugs", I wanted to see if they were beneficial first!! :)
