Bug identfication help!

Today me and my son found this strange bug in my yard (i live in the city of Pittsburgh,PA)
and spent all day trying to get more info on this insect it has six legs i'm assuming wings but dont fly it looked like it was adjusting them after i was poking at it, but i grabbed one leg with tweezers and no stinger no fight just the flight instinct(it wanted to get away) on the under side it appears to have wasp markings but on top it's dark brown and a unusual white marking on the part from its head i have some pics posted can anyone tell me what it is?
