entomology is not one of my strong suits. This guy wandered in to my garage today. I took
picture and carried it to nearby garden. Any ideas as to what this guy is. I'm in Northern
Alabama.

It's one of the many Click Beetles, called an Eyed Elator. Not a pest, lots of fun.

ps the fun part is setting them upside-down on their back, and after a few seconds they will 'snap' and launch itself several feet in the air
