CLOSED: What type of bug is this?

Thousand Oaks, CA

Hello, this is my first post on this forum and I was wondering if someone could help me identify this bug. I found them a lot on my windowsill last year and the reappeared there today.

This is a reproductive caste termite, probably Reticulitermes spp. - see http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/urban/termites/native_subterraneans.htm
You probably should have your premises inspected by a reputable professional termite control company; http://www.pestworld.org/ might be a good place to start looking.

Hope these are not subterranean termites which would cause serious structural damage once they build up the colony. Having said that, at least a year is needed for the colony to be mature enough to cause any damage to your property. Nevertheless, be more vigilant! The alates (winged productive termite) might come from the existing colony near your house.

Thanks very much for the replies.
