I found this little caterpillar on a Joe Pye Weed plant. It has eaten quite a few holes into the leaves, but I will keep it on the plant if it is a butterfly larva. Thanks.

This more likely will become a moth than a butterfly, it could be a very young caterpillar of an arctiid (tiger moths) in the genus Spilosoma - see http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2704843639_3d4c443f68.jpg?v=0 for a more mature larva.
