pelle, that is really cute!
GM, great shots!
This particular one is so hard to photograph since he is so dark.
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 9
Great shots guys! I have 2 that are coming into the feeder area right now, the one is very sweet and let me take 75 shots of her when I was only 6 feet away! I wish they all were like that. ^_^
This thread continues to be so enjoyable. I look at and love all the pics. Thanks Rose, GM, nanny, Burn, pelletory and elphaba for sharing these little delights with those who aren't so privileged.
You all take such gorgeous photos of these little ones! Burn, your garden is so gorgeous! I'd want to hang out there if I were a hummingbird.
My female is still being a guard hummer. She chased away a beautiful male yesterday. This morning, she was perched on the pink petal of my banana flower drinking from the yellow flowers inside. I didn't have my camera of course, but she had white stuff all over her beak. Should I be worried?
Beautiful Pelle!
Nice dark one nanny. I just had a near argument with a friend who said he had a black and red hummingbird and it was NOT a ruby throat. I suggested it was just a very dark male, but he would have none of it.
GM, lovely. Always nice when you can get that white "teardrop" from the eye.
I am enjoying your pics. What setting are you using to get these? Just curious, I would like to try and get a couple nice ones before they leave :(

I know mine was in AV mode the ISO was 400 and the f stop was around 5.6 or there abouts.
I'm still trying different settings to see what works best. Always learning here... worst
part is trying to remember it all. ^_^
I know Pelle! And sometimes I'm so lazy I just put it all in automatic and shoot away!
I do that too along with shooting in SP mode.
I shoot in S mode since my light varies so much from one time to another. That way I can set the ISO and shutter speed. I am very much a beginner here learning my camera!
Hi Nanny, that's something I need to learn with this new camera. There's so many modes and things to do under those modes. I was very frustrated that the full zoom would blur what I wanted to focus on and the background would be in crisp focus. On my old camera, portrait mode would blur the background and keep what was centered in focus. On this new one I have to use a scene mode called portrait/landscape to do that. Took me a couple weeks of experimenting to find that out. And I've only tried 5 out of umpteen scene modes! ARGH! Becky
Nanny, what new camera did you get?
Not a new one, just getting around learning how to use the fuji!! I was one of those just use auto-mode all the time people. lol
I was kind of hoping for another one this christmas...but we just installed a heatpump since our LP gas jumped so high for this winter. had to finance that baby for 5 yrs! It better work! So christmas just for the little kids this year.
Nanny, Why don't you start a new thread soon.
