CLOSED: Bee Video

Danbury, CT(Zone 6a)

I shot this video of a bee on my artichoke flower yesterday morning. What kind of bee is this? There's also a green fly that gets on the flower about halfway into it. Anyone know what he is? Here is the video.

Tip: you will need a good internet connection to view this. Some have better results starting the video and then pausing it and letting some buffer build before viewing it.

Here is a still photo too. I don't have a still photo of the fly.

Also, while I was photographing and filming, this other bee/wasp like thing kept bother the bigger bee that I was originally trying to photograph. Sorry this is a bit blurred, but they were in motion and it was really just luck that I got the shot. Anyone know what this guy is? And why was he bothering the bee?

The large bee is a bumble bee, possibly the common eastern bumble bee (Bombus impatiens) - see http://people.virginia.edu/~thr8z/Bee_Diversity/LinkPhotos2/Bombus_impatiens.jpg
The smaller bee may be one of the so-called long-horned bees (because of their long antennae), such as those in the genus Eucera - see http://bugguide.net/node/view/54812/bgpage
I'm not going to hazard a guess at the fly.

Okay, that's good, because I'm always calling them bumble bees. I have lots of them in my garden.

So why was the long-horned bee bothering the bumble bee?

Thanks!

I don't think that the smaller bee was deliberately provoking the bumble bee; they just appeared focused on the same part of the flower at the same time.

Actually, that smaller bee never landed directly on the flower. He kept landing on the bumble bee. I saw it do the same thing the day before. There's plenty of flower to go around. There were multiple bumble bees on there at the same time, although I didn't have my camera handy at the time.
