CLOSED: Orange grasshopper type with red stinger

Crossville, TN

Can you tell me if you know what type of bug this is? I don't have a pic but it was light orange in color about 2 inches long with log antannae that laid backwards and a curled up tail kind of like a scorpion with a red stinger looking thing at the end. It hopped away off my deck like a grasshopper and had the body like a grasshopper. Thanks

I also saw a moth a few days before with the same body. They looked like they could have been related. Weird

Sounds like it could be a katydid. Many have long antennae laid backwards, and the females of some species have an ovipositor that curls up. They resemble grasshoppers and hop like them too.

Here's a whole bunch of pictures of katydids. http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=katydid&search=Search

And more. If you scroll about 1/3 down, you'll see an orange katydid.
