Confused about Forums

What is the difference between this forum & The Parking Lot.? I just found the Parking Lot this Morning...I really need to get around more! LOL

You know, I'm not sure on that one! This forum always seems so imaginative and interesting that I haven't looked much at the Parking Lot. It might be good, too!

I THOUGHT that one or the other used to be open to non-subscribers and so it made the other a bit more "private" but now I see they both are starred to be just for subscribers so I'm confused to.

I think the Parking Lot was orignally just for hanging out and talking. This one seems to be for when you can't find where else to post something. I'm confused all the time so I could be just crazy. ☺

Per Admin statement at the top of the Parking Lot forum:

You can only access Parking Lot and post in it if you are a paid subscriber.The Forum "General Discussion & Chat" does not have those restrictions and is open to everyone. Your posts also appear to everyone, not just to other subscribers.

Clear as mud??? ;-)

As I mentioned above, if you go to the "select forums" page to choose which ones you want to appear on your homepage, BOTH now have asterisks which indicate they are both only for subscribers. BUT I think general USED to be open to all....not sure when or why the change.

Odd. Some of the threads in each of the two forums being
discussed have asterisks; other threads in those forums
don't.

Perhaps Dave or our new Admin, Melody Rose, will clarify this.
I've never given it much thought since I'm a subscriber.

Well...I can kind of help clarify it. :)

The Parking Lot forum was originally a place to post that only subscribers could see. The membership wanted a place to post photos of family and such. I think at that time the General Discussion forum was open for anyone to post and read. But I can't remember for sure. At any rate, they are both now for subscribers only, so there's probably not much difference between them.

The asterisks within the forums indicate which threads have photos in the initial post.
