I was wondering what everyone cooks for Labor Day? Thought it would be neat to hear about what you all do!
We always do a big B-B-Q, brisket, ribs, fajitas, sausage, ranchero beans, spanish rice, potato salad, pico de gallo, avacado salad, tortillas, and chips. For dessert there is fresh peach cobbler, homemade vanilla ice cream, Texas sunshine and frozen Texas tumbleweeds. Beverages offered are Texas sun tea, sodas, beer, margaritas, and sangria. I love to cook and make plenty, so if anyone finds themselves in my part of the country, do stop by and say HI! We can share calories and our love for gardening.
Have A Great Labor Day!
Blessings To All,
T-Lily ;-)

Anything I want as long it doesn't add up to more than 27 points on the weight watcher chart >BG<
bbq chicken and hamburgers. all the fixings, and whatever anyone brings. We have a couple of birthdays around this time, so we have a bd cake too!
Ditto here on the birthday. The daughter that lives in this part of the country has a birthday on September 3. Another daughter and her family are visiting this week-end. This year she has requested a picnic so I think we're doing cheeseburgers, baked beans, pasta salad, broccoli salad, bake beans, deviled eggs, etc. and of course, birthday cake :-) She was whining bc it's the last year of her 20's. I asked her how would she like to be the mother of a 29 year old - and she's not the oldest!
Azalea and Pandancanda here are the recipes for the Texas Sunshines and Texas Tumbleweeds. They are so good when it's hot outside and really easy to whip up.
Texas Sunshine
2 pints orange sherbet
4 ounces liqueur Gallino
In A blender, combine ingredients and mix untill well blended. Pour into champagne goblets and serve. This drink makes a nice light dessert and is delicious served with your favorite homemade cookies. You can also freeze the mixture and then scoop out with a ice cream scoop into goblets and garnish with orange curls
Yield: 6 to 8 champange goblet servings
Texas Tumbleweeds
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
6 ounces coffee liqueur
6 ounces creme de cacao
chocolate syrup
maraschino cherries
Mix all ingredients together and freeze. When ready to serve dessert, use ice cream scoop and spoon into dessert cups. Drizzle chocolate syrup on each dessert. Garnish with half of a cherry.
Yield: 8 servings
Not much labor involved in these so prefect for Labor Day!

Woweee! Now that's what I call a cool dessert, make lots, but make your guests take a nap before the drive home. I'm going to copy these for sure. Won't be much celebrating here this time tho, kids have to work. Maybe I could just mix up a batch for DH & ME! Thanks
"Eyes" did I read Nana right? Your Son is a pilot, hey guys ya'll find a small jet or big one, gather up fellow DG's and fly on down here. We'll all go to Mexico after the BBQ and buy lot's of pretty pottery. Fun! Fun! Fun! Last chance before summer's over! I'm feeling a need to kick up my heels, anyone else? Course I'd probably end up with broken bones in both these old feet, oh well it's the thought that counts,Right!

Labor Day weekend we go to the Festival at St. Catherine's Church in Marine City, Michigan. They have a different dinner every day.
Friday Is Fried Perch, Saturday is Roast beef, Sunday is Barbequed Chicken. $8 per dinner.. A really good time seeing old friends! We sit on the waterfront watching the lake freighters passing by..Just Beautiful!
Monday I make Barbequed ribs at home. Corn, Potato salad, chips & dip, & cake or Pie.
Today I am cleaning my house also. Wish me luck!
Johnny will certainly be surprised to hear he is a Pilot....LOL! No, He's in management over maintenance for those big old jet planes, and we get comp flights because we're the parents.....Hey, don't be surprised if the next time I'm down by Corpus if you find me on your doorstep TexasLil!!
