So...what is your worst gardening injury?

Annette...Good thing you were close to the bathroom too I bet! LOL!

Hi Becky ((waving))...Yes I have been. Didn't put as many seeds out this year, can't remember why just now, but still trying to plant the host & nectar plants. We haven't had as many bfs this year though, sad, it has been hot summer with heavy water use. Glad I guess it's good I didn't have more plants to keep alive.

Good to see you posting!

Oh my - so many of us have had the same experiences.

Once I was putting in my tomatoes in IN and didn't take the time to saw a point on the long 1X2 stakes I was using. These were tall so I was hammering over my head. Well, the between the angle of the hammer and height, the hammer bounced off the stake and right into my forehead. I had a bruise for two weeks and two marks where the claw hit me square in the middle of my forehead! How embarrassing.

Annette - LOL about your dh's web trap ... and doing the wasps shuffle! (Been there, done that one! My "dance" is a hoot, too! LOL!)

Shelia - Glad to hear you are still inviting Butterflies and caterpillars to your gardens! They are starting to come back here now. Very few over the summer. Too hot probably, though we did get quite a bit of rain ... as can be observed by the swamp land in the vacant lots around me and the sheer outrageous number of mosquitos)! LOL! I've got lots of plants. I think I planted just about everything that I received in the group swap. Though not everything germinated and grew for me. But apparently some of the "good" stuff did, cause the butterflies are zeroing in on my yard these past 2 weeks! :-) I am still busy on DG, but got into some different plants and hae become obsessed about one in particular ... which is where I hang out these days. I still do trades, etc., but I just skim the Butterfly and Hummingbird forum. Too much chatter there and I just can't keep up! LOL! I am so glad to see many folks that I helped get started with butterflies are now helping more newbies! Awesome!!!

TexasLizzy - OH MY!!!! ROTFLMBO!!! Too funny! That is something that I haven't done yet ... LOL!

yeah - it was pretty funny. the veggie bed was right outside the kitchen window and DH was watching (of course he didn't come help) and when he saw me do that he had to wait a few minutes to compose himself he was laughing so hard! I never did get those stakes in. I went and bought tomoto cages and have used them ever since!

Hey Becky! Glad you joined in! Who'da ever thought gardening could be so dangerous? lol I've heard what a zoo it is at your place and believe all of those stories! Where are you hanging out now? Brugs or vines? I hear ya on not being really able to jump back in the BG forum. I'm trying tho.

Y'all have shared some good ones! I think stitches are much better than a claw mark on my forehead! LOL

Hey back at ya, Paige!!! I think gardeners are a breed of folks unlike no other! Thank goodness there are lots of us folks out there, so at least most of us understand, so we aren't each ready to be commited to the funny farm ... and if they send me there ... they better have a garden to putter around in! Or it could get REALLY ugly! lol

I'm smitten with Morning Glories! I got it bad, too! :-) :-)

And Brugs, Sunflowers, and all kinds of vines, and Landscape Designing. And hummingbirds since I finally started seeing some in my yard and at my feeders. So many cool and interesting plants, creatures, and garden ideas to discover! lol!

Yeppers ... a claw mark doesn't sound too pretty does, it?? LOL! I'll remember that the next time I am whacking away with a hammer. ;-) I'm more prone to hitting my fingers than hitting my head.

Hi all! Loving all your war stories!

My worst has been the lip swellings. They swell up and make me kind of look like Melanie Griffith.....okay, that's a bit of a stretch here LOL
There's something in my garden that gets on my gloves and then to my lips. Hey, it's cheaper than Botox....if I could just figure out what IT is!

Hi Paige and Becky....good to hear from you both!!!

Oh Fly, that is strange! That would be pretty handy to have tho before going out-on-the-town...cheaper than lip plumpers! If I touch Wandering Jew (Purple Heart) I get a rash. Not so pretty. lol

Becky, that's the beauty of "gardening"! There are so many different categories to love! I've gone thru my years of raising butterflies to more birding this year. It's a good thing too because I've had many more birds than bflies. That's so funny about the hummers because I remember when you were still waiting for one. I only see them when it's cloudy and there's been rain, so that's not often now.

I'll have to check out some of the other forums too, if I get time. I'm going to really start trying to work in many more natives in my yard so that gives me another project.

Fly, where are you hanging out? Body building? ;) Oh shoot, forgot to ride my bike today. Maybe 4 hours pruning is equivelant.

Paige - I still get a nice selection of birds at the seed birdfeeder. I even had the honor of raising a baby cardinal (that had been injured) for 2 weeks until I could find a rehabber to hand it over to! She was the sweetest little thing! But my love is still gardening and garden designing. Few butterflies, too ... but Fall and Winter is coming, so I will start seeing more butterflies and hummers. I can't wait for cooler weather. The summer has been miserably hot and humid here. Around the inside of the perimeter of the backyard fence, it now looks like a jungle ... which of course ... is where all my garden accidents occur. LOL! I'm on my 3rd year with many of the plants, so the saying ... "1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, and 3rd year leap" is so TRUE!
