I noticed it on the backside of an oak leaf and was wondering if it could be the egg nursery room of an insect?..
CLOSED: Any idea what this could be?
I suspect that these are galls caused by a tiny wasp in the family Cynipidae. A similar gall, called a saucer gall (caused by Andricus gigas), occurs on some oak species in the USA - see http://waynesword.palomar.edu/images/gall10b.jpg
Thank you Suunto! I think I now found mine.
It is Neuroterus laeviusculus
The colours can vary..
