Lily question - stalks dying back

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

A few of my lilies already have stalks dying back. They're some of the shorter stalks - one I believe is citronella which finished blooming a while ago. Another's the shortest of my orange tiger turk's caps, some of which are still blooming. I don't remember having any lily stalks die back this early before (but that doesn't mean it didn't happen). I'm just wondering if this is the natural dying back or if something could be wrong.

I also have some that are dying back or have already died back. My pixie lilies that bloomed weeks ago has died back completely. Some of my tiger lilies are dying back now. I can't remember either if this is normal, but I am thinking that it is. Hopefuly with this getting bumped up someone with a bit more knowledge of lilies can help you and me!

I usually seem to have a few that die back before Fall, and don't believe that it's anything to worry about if it has otherwise looked healthy.

I agree that it is not anything to worry about if the lily appeared healthy before yellowing.

I have had some turn yellow and lose thier leaves due to too much rain this year. I may get nosy with those, but otherwise I think the lily knows when it is ready to go 'dormant', (something lilies never really do).

I had some liliy stalks and leaves that turned yellow before bloom (especially Casa Blanca) but bloomed anyway. I think that some of them would have preferred a little more fertilization or better spacing, but they are fine. I think Lilyfan is on the mark.

Thanks, everyone, for the reassurance. We definitely have had A LOT of rain recently! - so maybe I should do a little digging and make sure there's no rot -?

Ah, we had a ton of rain too. I didn't lose any of my lilies but the stems were yellow and a bit streaked. I was rather anxious but they came up just fine. Some I had transplanted when they were a foot tall produced somewhat smaller flowers, but that was the only difference.

I'm so glad it was nothing serious.
