I just came across these tents full of very small dark eggs(?), along with some caterpillers munching on the leaves, in a young ash tree in my yard. What are they and how is the best way to destroy them? Thanks.
CLOSED: Eating my ash tree
These look like fall webworms (Hyphantria cunea; Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) - see http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/showimage/2853/
Although extremely unsightly, they seldom are considered serious forest pests. See http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/champaign/homeowners/040828.html for more information.
