Happy Birthday, Marie - a trellis idea for your MGs - who says wisteria & water lilies have to monopolize drum bridges? I can just imagine a fairy garden with a little mud-puddle for the butterflies and over it a miniature drum bridge dripping with Convolvulus sabatius :)

ps - Putting my DG copyright thingee on Monet's painting was a bad accident - will pay better attention next time; however, The Athenaeum does allow general use of their images, on the condition that you give them as the source.

pps - Marie, in a dry climate, water can be suggested by something like a dry stream bed filled with gravel - I can still imagine any kind of morning glory in a composition like this painting - whether on part of the drum bridge, or at the edge of pond or somewhere among the background plantings. The negative space at the center of the painting portrayed by the pond's water could alternatively be portrayed by any kind of clearing or glade of grass or mulch or paving...This could be done on a city rooftop with just pots ... strategically placed trellis at outer boundaries to block out-of-sync images...
