How do you deal with the empty spot...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I don't think Hardy Begonias are hardy in my zone

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'd like to check out more Hardy Begonia facts, too.

Hmmmm, Jo Ann, I thought you were farther north than the lower points of NY. Down here by the city, we're in zone 6. Long Island gets up to zone 7, but the northern part of NY is zone 5 or even lower (except right around Lake Ontario).

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with my empty spots...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am on the shores of Lake Ontario anywhere from Z5a to6
I'll give HB's a look.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Checked it out.
Gardens Soyvay has em Giant Hardy Z6-9
Shade and spreading. Might have to wait on that.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, Dave's says that the hardy begonias are hardy to zone 6a, and that's my zone, so I may try some.

I would go for them too except I am really loking for upright large plants at this time.
They are really nice though.Send pics when you get them.

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Definitely hardy to Z6a, they do fine here and we had always been a very cold 6a.

ge...how "large" a plant are you looking for? This Begonia gets pretty tall, grows almost 3' tall in some areas of our garden and after a few years has about a 3' spread as well.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was under the impression they were spreaders.Maybe I looked at a different variety.
I'll give a better look and reconsider. Thanks for the info.

So, Al, you rent out your plants? Or do you just sneak them in when the neighbors aren't looking?!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

If the latter is true, I'm moving in next door! :-}

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Not if I get there first!!! tee-hee

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

HI Sue - I have a smallish front bed and a long narrow border there. I have run out of places to put overflow plants now.
