I have yellow tigerlilies starting to bloom and up and down some of the stems where the leave joints are ...
Are these little brown shiny things that look like seeds...
Is this how they produce seeds??
And if so when should I harvest/pick them??
Thanks
Tiger Lily Question??
They're called bulbils, and they are actually seeds. They'll fall off on their own or you can pick them off when they're loose. They usually start sprouting even before they fall off. Last year I took the advice of dg members and planted some of mine in pots which I then buried in my garden. That way you don't accidentally get rid of them. So far they only have one leaf each and I just planted them in the ground. I can't remember what was said - maybe 2 or 3 more years til they bloom? (They'll have to start growing a lot faster or it'll be more like 20 years!)
I have some gorgeous orange tigers. Wonder if you'd feel like trading some of your yellow bulbils for my orange. Please send me a dmail if you're interested.
