Carpenter Worm Moth

La Fargeville, NY

Identified a Carpenter Worm Moth here last evening.
Help! Is this going to damage our trees and what should we be looking for in order to get rid of them. I really don't like destroying bugs - I'd rather just keep them happy, but I don't want my trees eventually dying because this moth has laid myriad numbers of eggs in them.
What should I do?
