Fuchsia

Toronto, ON(Zone 5b)

I feel so bummed out. There's not even a discussion forum specifically for fuchsias here so I can ask specific questions =p...I'm trying to make an extensive list of fuchsia cultivars that are usually out on the market such as "Princess Dollar" or "Delta's Sarah" and such. These are hybrid fuchsias rather than F. splendid, F. boliviana, Cape fuchsias and such other species of other fuchsias.

Now my question is, should hybrid fuchsias be labeled as "Hybrid Fuchsia" for their common name? Some DG members have already added them as such, but some added them as "Semi-double Princess Dollar Fuchsia" or "Hardy Fuchsia". So what do you guys think?

I'll let the PF admins help you with the questions on how things should be entered in Plant Files, but if you have other questions, you can ask questions about them in the beginner flowers/gardening forums or in the perennials forum, they'd be perfectly appropriate in those places (and I know I've seen threads about them before).

evr, either putting Hybrid Fuchsia or just Fuchsia in the common name will work. I think Hybrid Fuchsia might be the way to go. We don't put the cultivar name in the common name field though.

Thanks for all your help, and if you run across any entries that need the common name fixed, just use the red 'Report and Error' button in the upper right hand corner of all PlantFile entry pages and let us know. We can fix that.

As far as a forum for Fuchsia, there isn't one. You could ask the question on the Dave's Garden forum, and if there's enough interest to support an additional forum, it will usually be added. Here's a link to the Dave's Garden forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/dg/all/

It would be nice if there was a forum on fuchsias! I have wished for one many times.
