Cala lily surprise

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't seen much discussion about callas here but I'm hoping I'm in the right forum. I bought some off the fried frozen cart at Lowes one day atleast a year ago. The did their thing, the leaves died and I set the pot asside. Well I decided to reuse the dirt yesterday because I thought they died since they didn't come up last spring. Dumped it out and low and behold the bulbs were making fresh roots. I was so shocked. I guess they didn't come up in the spring because I didn't water them, but I assumed they were dead because the spent the winter outside with no water whatsoever. I had no idea callas were that tough. Thought they were only hardy to zone 9 or something.

So anyway, if I water and fertilize them, will they come up in this heat?

Mary mine are up in the heat here which I think is worse than where you are. I would go ahead and get them going!!

Well I put them in very bright shade and watered them real good this am. I'll fertilize them next time I do everything else and we'll see. I sure do have new respect for callas now.:)

Me too!!
