How does all that gum just fall out of people's mouths ????

Was at the light rail (Metro) stop. Thousand s of chewing gum spots on the sidewalk. How the heck do all these people lose gum??? Do they spit gum on the sidewalk on purpose??? Never seen that done. It just boggle s my mind how all the gum gets on the ground. Never in my life have I let gum fall out of my mouth. (I guess I CAN walk and chew gum at the same time.) If it did, wouldn't I gingerly pick it up and dispose properly? I doubt it welds instantly to the ground.
This is my great mystery of the day. Can anybody explain it?

maybe you're right- its just that the gum stays there longer. But still.. are that many people such pigs that they spit it there? Randomly, all over sidewalks? I may not want to know this answer.

Probably not. LOL I do know that people all over this country do the most appalling things. I mentioned hamburgers on my list. I saw a news article about a guy who threw one out his sunroof and hit another driver recently. It didn't say if the other driver was hurt but still, you can't put it back in the bag and put it in a trash can?

"The doctor said not to get Special Sauce in my eye!" (goes back to an old Simpsons episode about pudding, which became one of our family jokes)

One time my kids and I were eating at BK, sitting in the car, in the shade, windows down, la di da. A small car pulls up to the stop sign to leave, the mom SCREAMS "Don't throw out your pickle!!!" , a pause and they drive off.
It was so sudden and vehement, (Like that vocab?!?) that we were totally baffled!

Well, that was certainly random! LOL I wonder what she meant by that. (Yes, LOVE the vocab! LOL) Or was she talking to someone in the car? It's funny the snips of conversations you hear. Sometimes, you don't WANT to know what they're talking about.

She was far enough from us, or anybody, that it appeared she was talking to someone in her car. But in the tone you would use for 'There's a kitten in the road!!!"
Do we appreciate her teaching someone not to litter? maybe? but a pickle slice at the stop sign on a busy street with no pedestrians?
It was random. It became another family joke.

I have been told by people who know firsthand that, in some Asian countries, spitting in public on floors, sidewalks, etc. is commonplace. Don't accuse me of "racism." Facts are stubborn things. Many dread diseases are transmitted by saliva, among them TB. When we walk on sidewalks, and then come in our homes and walk on carpet..............

Ew, ew, ew!!! Yes, it is commonplace here, too.

This seemed like such an odd subject I had to comment! I do wonder why people spit gum on the sidewalk. Do they think they won't step in it? Or maybe bugs will carry it away? It's a mystery! I liked the pickle story. I bet the woman was talking to some kid in the back seat who was busily taking apart a hamburger and dropping bits all over the place. It can make you crazy!

spitting isn't the worst, how about not using a tissue to blow your nose. Yes, in some countries, they just hold one nostril closed and let fly. I personally saw it happen a couple of times in NY and Dc by foreigners ( not going to point out any particular nationality) I make everybody take their shoes off at my house.

Speaking of gross....my DD,DGKS and I were sitting in a popular resturant having a nice lunch when an older gentleman sitting table behind us,blew his nose.. afterward making those hawking,snuffing noises. It was all I colud do not to run gaging from the dining room. Some people just amaze me.

Gum spitter should have to walk around all the time w/ gum stuck to the bottom of there shoes. Don't know what should be done w/ the people that stick it under tables in public places....but then I had a girlfriend in grade school that would stick her abc gum behind her ear during class then remove it and chew it at recess....talk about EEEUUUWWW...even at that age.

The ones who stick their gum under tables/chairs/ benches should have it stuck to their bums. Let them walk around showing off their bubble bums. ☺
