I admit I'm really not very good with this Bug ID stuff, but I do love to take their pictures! Can somebody help me with this one? There were actually two of the same as far as I could tell, and they had a face-off from the top of bamboo stakes in my veg garden. I got several great pics.
The Face-off. They just stared each other down, until the newcomer - the one on the left - flew away, then the one who was there first - on the right - took off right after. Maybe they were arranging a rendez-vous!
BTW, probably a dumb question, but how does one tell a female from a male dragonfly - everybody but me seems to be able to tell easily...
