Cotton! Got it at the SFA plant sale.
August Blooms/Plants/Gardens/Yard Art
The plant is loaded with bolls. Ought to be outstanding once they all open, if they do, they seem to be just sitting there.
Any other August plants?
Do fried plants count? Lol.... All of my stuff is just trying to stay alive right now in this 105F heat, especially since I cannot run the soaker hoses right now due to a water bill dispute.

So glad others are growing cotton. I've had some in my gardens for several years. Even had some brown cotton one year. (Not as pretty as the white). It is blooming up a storm here in Houston and a couple bolls have already opened into white puffy cotton.
Just so you know....
I miss my rock rose! I dug it out this spring because it was in the wrong place. I still have several volunteers coming up, though, and I've saved LOTS of seeds. I must plant one again next year!
Antiquedrose~Is this the one you have ?

This is the one I've had and is shown in my pic above, Rock Rosemallow.

Sure looks like mine. I don't have mine labeled. I'm just now learning labeling's a good thing.
Plac., What is the name of that ginger? My predecessor her left me tons of it and I haven't the vaguest idea of the name. If anyone is near and wants some, I have plenty to spare - just come dig it.

When I told DDH that I had written you asking the name of that ginger he asked if I also asked you how to make it stand above the foliage! I told him it was the nature of the beast to remain hidden. He opined that the flower are pretty but you can't see them and would rather have some where you could see the flowers such as shell gingers, etc. Tough! We've got what we've got that that's that! There are some other gingers here in the yard but they haven't bloomed yet that I have seen so there is still hope that we have some visible ones. Thanks for the name.
