All for fun, of course, with lots of serious ideas for future reference. I've been thinking about this for a while. We will soon be looking for another house in another location but every time I walk through one, I see so much I don't like. So I've been noodling building ideas around in my head. I'll bet you do that, too!
We can start from scratch, beginning with location. You can choose a specific place or describe it in environmental generalities, e.g., zone X, ___ elevation, X amount of rainfall yearly, # of frost/freeze days, type of soil, etc. The reason I think starting here is a good idea is this: The house should fit into its environment as well as possible, from design to materials.
Once we get through this, we'll start on the house. It the thread gets really long, we'll start another.
