I need to find some info on germination of seed, I planted seeds from 2 different companies on june 30 and had only 1 seed to germinate, I prechilled the seed, I have them in shade, I bottom watered, Could it be to hot?? I cant find germination info that is detailed enough to help. Does anyone have experience in these guy's? I planted a sedum mix and they are doing great and there in the same tray.
sempervivum tectorum hen and chicks seed germination ???
here's what the directions on Thompson & Morgan's site say:
"Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 65-70F (18-20C). Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost. Sometimes slow to germinate. If no germination after 8 weeks, pre-chill for 3 weeks."
I take it you have them outside? Sounds like you might wanna take them in for a lower consistent temp?
I think thats my problem too, it's been to hot out, The one that did germinate is now gone? I have no idea what happened, I also have seen slug trails across my flats, they might be eating them, Who knows they seem to eat everything else.
I hear that! Still, I'd try it in a well lit place inside where you have a little more control. They're great plants.
