phicks, What kind of snakes?

Dallas, TX

phicks, This is a pic. of my Colo. Thailand Giant from last summer. This summer it's about the size of a handfull of mouse manure. I've had about 1in. of rain sence the first of june. It's still 102* now and that has been for atleast 2weeks. City water is so hot it's like coming from hot water heater! It just keeps plants barely alive! No prize winners this year, thats for sure!!! Paul, what kind of snakes you got? I used to have boas and pythons, but mice were too small for them so I raised rats instead. Soon the rats weren't enough. . .

Snake poo - now that's a secret EE formula!

Very nice, Paul! I had a retic python, burmese, indian rock, diamond/carpet hybrid, durmeril's, cloud boas, colombian boa, cook's tree boas and a few others.

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

do you still have any LariAnn?

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

Paul, I don't have any now, as I had sold my collection right before hurricane Andrew, and the one boa I did keep, I could no longer find food for after the storm. So I sold my last one as well. It's aroids all the time now for me, although I would enjoy having one or two snakes again.

I do wish I'd been able to keep my retic (name of Zhora) because she was unusually tame and docile for a retic. The second retic I had was more typical - bad attitude and all.

here are my EE's in Nebraska! I keep mine in pots.

Here is one I got from LariAnn this Spring. I believe the plant is about a year old. I can't believe how much its grown in one season.

shadow, is that the alocasia x blue portora you had told me about? that's cool......are you going to leave it out for the winter?

I saw them on the marketplace and have been soooooooo tempted

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm very tempted to leave it out. But after watching it grow this year it has become my favorite EE. I would hate for it to not come back. It did grow a baby ee this year so next year I might leave one out. I highly recommend this EE. Very easy to grow. Sun and water...lol

ps. yes it is the Blue P

I have never been in this forum, but saw it on the "Recently Posted" list..

I cant' help myself.

The question was "hows your ears?"

My answer? "What'd you say?!?"

:)

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

....just need a foot of mulch or so! lol...easy for me to say

probably would be smart for me to ask Lari Ann about this, of course I want to believe it would be hardy because the other alocasia x portora is...
thanks for sharing

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

...huh? ..lol

sorry for the double post, but shadow, so you remember which form the stem was on yours?

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Mine was had light green with dark green spots. I believe LariAnn said it was the Darker version. Is that what you were asking?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

If you dig it up, how will you store it?

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm going to chop the leaves and store with peat moss in a plastic container. Anyone else know a better way to store?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I ask because I have a Portodora that is growing nicely..I want to leave it in the ground but i'm chicken ; }

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I live in 7b and I'm scared to leave this one in the ground. I drove all the way to South Florida to get it. I would hate to loose it. I have a baby that I'm going to try to keep growing in a bright South window.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Not the best pic it got beat up in a storm...i'm told my zone is 7a. It is surrounded with concrete any thoughts?

I would think you would need a foot of mulch and must be in sun all day if you were going to try to leave it in the ground. I would suggest digging it up after the first cold spell. I'm going to wait until the mid to high thirties before I dig mine up.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

It only gets afternoon sun...guess i'll be digging! Thanks : )

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

yes shadow, thanks for answering my question, that was what I was looking for. I gave in after I found it on the marketplace, they look too cool!

have fun digging kimarj :)
