I am new to Kentucky and just beginning to learn my critters.
I found this beautiful butterfly drying itself yesterday morning after the sprinklers were turned off.
ID please?
CLOSED: Eastern Kentucky butterfly
This appears to be a female spicebush swallowtail, Papilio troilus - see http://www.uky.edu/Ag/CritterFiles/casefile/insects/butterflies/swallowtail/swallowtail.htm for the swallowtails of Kentucky.
