Isn't Miss Kim just the sweetest gal! I have some of her wonderful dish cloths too and absolutely LOVE them! Love the rainbow colors of yours Jan! You will love these dish cloths! I had never seen knitted dish cloths before and can't imagine being without them now. They really are wonderful!

I got the same Sinningia seeds from Kim in the mail yesterday too and look forward to sowing them, hopefully sometime next week!

Kim, Thank you for being such a sharing, caring friend!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Jannich you silly goose.......I was trying to be sneaky *lol*
I can't believe how fast everyone is getting their surprises. I only mailed them on Friday :)
I'm SO glad you are happy with them and like them.
Since I'm trying not to smoke, I find knitting helps alot. I love my dishcloths and they are all I have used for years. I wanted you all to try them.

I have to tell you ladies something though........I told my mother in law and sister and law in coversation that I had mailed out 12 of them already to my friends and all of a sudden my mother in law says......"WHAT...........YOU MAILED THEM TO YOUR FRIENDS...........did I tell you that 2 of mine have holes they are so old" and my sister in law says "yeah, and mine are all faded and wearing thin".........."can you teach us the pattern". Of course I said "no, I can't teach you the pattern..........what am I going to give you at Christmas time? *lol*". They just LOVE them too. It's funny, sometimes people don't really like handmade items but if it's something they can "use" it seems to make handmade items more appreciated *lol*

I can't promise germination on any of my seeds as I won't know if they are fertile or not until they are planted. I can say, I have planted the Mother's Day X Self almost 10 days ago and don't see a sprout yet but I'm MUCH better at making the seeds than I am at growing them :)

Jan, I'm so glad you liked your "care about you" package :)

XO
Kim

(Zone 1)

Gosh Kim ... I KNOW you could make some money selling those dish cloths! I love going to craft shows in the fall and I've seen crochet and knitted dish towels but never dish cloths ... they would be a popular item for sure! Not that I'm THAT old but I know "older" women like me would love them. You could wrap a half dozen with a pretty ribbon and I bet they would sell like hot cakes!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

All I can say is a huge AMEN!! to Jan's thank you post. It is worded perfectly and my thoughts exactly!

I too received one of Kim's "sneaky" ^_^ I care about you packages!! Mine also included some of those fabulous dish cloths, I was so excited I let out a little squeal when I opened the box! ^_^ I've been wanting them so bad but because the "silly goose" won't put them on the Market place I didn't know how to get any with being gauche and asking! LOL

So I also agree with Lin, they'd sell like hot cakes Kim, I know I'm not the only one secretly coveting them. ^_^ They are awsome!

Thank you SO much!! You really brightened what had been a very long week or so!! And I love the plants and seeds too!! LOL

You are all just the BEST and each one of you has touched my life in one way or another. All I can say is that what comes around, goes around. :)

I have a couple more packages to mail out but the dishcloths are coming off the needles a little slower lately as I have been starting to look for a new job.

Brenda, I'm so glad you posted though because I have been trying to check on your box this morning and I was having a really hard time with the USPS tracking site.

How did everything travel?

Kim

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

The box arrived yesterday and the streps were in great shape! They are relaxing under the grow lights after a nice misting of VF 11 and I'll probably get them potted up this weekend. Well grown babies! Good job!

Speaking of babies, these guys got potted up last weekend, they are growing great, looking good and getting big!

The chiritas you sent me as tiny babies awhile back........ They went from those little bitty pots to 3 oz solos and now have moved up to 9 oz squatty solos!

OMG Brenda..........would you look at those!
I am just beaming from ear to ear! I don't know about all of you but I just LOVE update pictures.
YOU have done SUCH a FANTASTIC job with those! Totally Amazing!
They were SO SO tiny when I mailed them.......remember the "foam crib" I had to send them in? *lol*
Wow, that is awesome!
You should see me sitting here, beaming ear to ear and nodding like "that's my girl".

Great job Brenda!!

Kim

(Zone 1)

Oh Brenda, what a great job! You gal's can really grow! I struggle a lot sometimes, especially with seedlings (can sometimes sow seed and get them to sprout but they don't live long) and small plants tend to not do well for me. Not the plants problem though ... I should take better care of them and pay more attention to them. Two of the ones Kim sent me are doing real well. The little ones died but these were the two largest and seem happy.

Chirita Hisako and Chirita Silver Surfer: I cropped the photo so you couldn't see all the dirt, dust and cat hair all over the place!

Kim that was very sweet of you.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow Lin! Those look great too! You have done a WONDERFUL job with them!

Sending you a D-Mail :)

Kim

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

How did I miss this whole thread! Great that everyone is going to love their dishcloths. I refuse to use anything else. Although mine have had so much clorox in the water that mine are now a lovely white color.

I made a decision I am sticking to.......not selling any more streps as I love to grow them and it is something I can give (not much else). Although, Jan, Bonnie and Rain, I am getting better with my sinningias.......

DG is so special and all the money does is mean I order more streps (LOL).............which my friends will send me leave anyway..........if you have a strep you can't seem to propagate, send the leaf to me and I will send the plant back with its' first bloom.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Funny Gail, I struggle with growing alot of things but handmade things are something I can give and enjoy making so there we go *lol*
I'm rotting sinningia tubers left and right.....almost daily now. Don't think tubers are my thing at all :(
Goodness what is my "thang"?
Turning out to be Chirita and Nematanthus...........the 2 easiest *lol*

Kim

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You are funny with 'what is my thang'? Well, I can't grow chiritas and you seem to be rocking and rolling with them! You certainly can crochet .............I still love my wedding girl...........

Can you just with hold watering a lot on the tubers so they just go dormant and not rot?

You don't have to be 'afraid of my being grumpy' anymore. I turned the road today and have been playing with plants.............

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You all just have to see this fantastic thread on bird watching. It started out with pics and now there are captions which are hysterically funny and cute.

Lilburn, GA

Gail, thank you for th ebird link. that is great!

dbmel, where do you get the little round grocery type containers that you put the solo cups in?

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I to yesterday got a package in the mail with all those goodies...LOL Kim, made my day as I was in a foul mood ... Thank you so much and I hope I can grow those seeds... I will let you know....
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Spider, we buy those containers at Walmart to hold the solo cups, etc.......Brenda can tell us where she gets hers.

Susan, I am so happy that Kim made you smile! She is a pretty special friend to DG!!

Lilburn, GA

Thank you Gail.:o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Some people even use the plastic ones for food at the grocery store .........you can still use the top for a dome......(if it is only opaque and not colored)

I have seen ladies use those big sweater boxes at Walmart.......the deep ones for bigger cuttings........

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

That bird thread had some priceless stuff on it. LOL I liked the hummingbird, what an shot that was to catch!

Spider I buy those "deli" containers at a restaurant supply along with the 9 oz solo cups and other various things to use when potting up. Inexpensive in bulk, gotta love that!

Kim, the Chiritas have been growing in natural light on the plant stand in my west window, they like it!! I have to turn them around almost daily lately as they are leaning towards the light so hard! ^_^

~Brenda

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I never even thought of stopping by the restaurant supply place in CC.........thanks , Brenda........you have a couple of things going to you on Friday when I go to the post office, Brenda..............don't think the weekend will make that much difference. It is my thanks to you for strep leaves.

Don't freak out as you have never grown one plant and I bet you have it blooming in 6 months with your green thumb.

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I did get your strep leaves out today Gail, I hope there are some new names in there for you to grow!! One in particular is a new fantasy called Helter Skelter ..... I haven't had it long and have yet to see it bloom but the pictures are cool!!

Don't freak out are words guaranteed to make me!! LOL Now I'm all excited to see what's coming!! Thanks for being so thoughtful!!

Time to take the dogs on a walk....
~Brenda

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow, so much to catch up on this morning :)
I'm SO happy that everyone is enjoying more in their mailboxes these days other than bills and credit card applications *lol*
Brenda, I have my chirita in the kitchen on a stand with only natural light and they seem to really like it there too :) Like you, I have to turn them all the time but I don't mind as it gives me a chance to lift the pot and see if they need water :)
I have 3 trays of babies maturing on the light stand though as the babies seem to do better on a light stand until they reach 3 oz size :)
Gail, don't worry.........I won't tell Brenda what you're sending *lol* *winks at Brenda*..........no matter what, I promise I will keep a secret *lol*
What a wonderful group of sistas we have here.........it is SO like family :)

Kim

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

We do have so much fun! This is especially nice for people like me who have moved to locations where we don't really know the folks around here very well. I have all my old friends from the past but none live around here.

I have completely run out of small pots but have so many with leaves in them now, I think I just make my first trip to town without a tooth in my head (LOL)......it is ok when they stare at me (smiling) I will just give them a big smile to make it obvious I don't have teeth........make their day for them telling their kids about this ole lady in the grocery store.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Totally missed this thread too..Sending Kim a {{Huge Cyber Hug}} too for the gorgeous washcloths and seeds..thanks for thinking of me..what a sweet wonderful surprise : )..oh and you are very right..lol..soo much nicer to find in my mailbox than the usual bills!!

(Zone 1)

LOL, I wish I could just shred all the bills along with the junk mail that comes in our mailbox on a daily basis!

Gail: I can just picture a big toothless grin *** ^_^ *** I LOVE your attitude! So glad you are feeling better! We all get grumpy sometimes ... Hey, I think we all have that right! We are women, and with all the c - - p or maybe I should say "stuff" we have to put up with, it is our privilege to be grumpy at least once a day! LOL. I have to admit though ... I sometimes stay grumpy for more than 24 hours at at time! Sometimes I get in moods where I just wish I could take a few days and go somewhere by myself ... a mini vacation just for me! I usually do that by going out amongst my plants and playing in the dirt, but even then sometimes a neighbor will interrupt my grumpy mood. And, it's sometimes hard to act cheerful when you're not!

Well, I am going to go check out some of the forums to look at all the lovely photo's of beautiful blooming plants! Some of the photo's on here always make my day!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Gail, You got all of the toothums pulled. Poor Gail hope it isn't still very painful.I did that once (LOL) guess you can't do it twice. I didn't realize you got them all pulled because I guess I missed the part about that.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Yesterday I was just running all about the house and playing with plants. I really thought I had turned the corner. I just can't seem to tolerate that much antibiotic so was up most of the night. At least it is over with and he put 8 implants in at the same time...........and then grafted both bone and tissue from the roof of my mouth.

I am going to see my internist in the morning and he is going to be sure my body is working right (LOL)...............the teeth pulled wasn't much............just 5 of them.........it is the grafting that is driving me nutso.........Eating isn't bad at all. I just made some homemade chicken broth and then boiled potatoes and carrots in it......then the blender! Tasted good to me!

Sure did want that chicken though............had to put that back in the refrigerator.....bummer

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Gail - maybe you could cook the chicken, shred it really good, then put some of the shredded bits into the blender next time!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Don't you think I didn't think about it, (LOL) but I was afraid to upset my stomach in any way........I am going to try it in a day or so though. That is why I put the chicken back in the refrigerator. (I have ulterior motives)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Gessie- I'm thinking of you! I envy you in a way(Not nice to say when you are in pain), as I really need the dental implants, but on my budget there is no way. The old fashion false teeth will have to fill my mouth. You will have such a great smile, remember to get a pic as soon as your smile is back. We want to see!!! Be like the young girls with boob implants. Show them to everyone.

I have always loved to come here and see all the great pictures. Now, it is like my daily fix of my friends. I know I don't post much, but I feel I know you all so well from this forum
that I think of you all as my friends. Many days go by without me seeing another woman,
or talking to another woman. So, I want you to know , even though you don't know me as well as I know you, I love you all and think we are a great bunch of sistas and wish we could magically all get together for a round up. If I ever win the lottery , that's what I would do first. Send you all tickets to come see me, all at the same time. What fun we could have!

But the next best thing is this forum. I'm so glad I found you all on this forum. Lurker Lou

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

AWWWW Lou, as I'm reading your post I can feel my eyes fill with tears. That was SOOO written from the heart and we love you too!!!
I know that you have D-Mailed me personally and have been SO encouraging to me when I needed encouragement. I can never thank you enough.
Some people are just more shy and tend to "lurk". I know I do that on every other site I belong to.
This is the ONLY site and actually the ONLY forum that I have really just "let myself go".
So I completely understand the "just lurking" feeling. I do it on LOTS of other sites. You can learn alot from lurking *lol*
You are SUCH a special lady Lou and we just LOVE it when you chime in :) Really brightens our day :)

Hope all is well and things are growing good :) You keep being the sweet lurker you are if that is what you are comfortable with.......we know you're here even if you don't post often and just LOVE having you as a sista :)

Kim

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I never would have done this Lou as it is costing a small fortune I don't have!!!!!! And that is the truth.........I got used to the top denture and that wasn't so bad. When my bottom teeth had to come out, everyone I talked to said that trying to wear a bottom denture was horrible. So...........I made the plunge. Probably the biggest mistake was letting him do everything at one time.....pulling teeth, grafting bone, grafting tissue and then 8 implants.

I love your analogy to the young girls with the big boob implants and showing them off! I do wonder if I will look any different. The worst part is my mouth has to have at least 2 months of healing and maybe more before he can even think of teeth.............I am not vain and think it is funny to go places without teeth but I bet I get tired of a liquid diet over several months.

He doesn't want me chewing on the new implants with anything................

One of these days we really are going to all get together.........Lin and a lot of us have already started talking about it...........trying to find a central location or come down here..........Maybe we could all start saving money so that those close to here would have to help pay for people's tickets who are far away like you..........

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, Kim! We all need to start saving money in a piggy bank at home. Just think that in another year or two we could have enough to pull a get together off!!!!

I am watching your seed pods carefully, Lou...........and we expect you to take pictures when they bloom. You will get some good plants from this mother plant.

(Zone 1)

LOL Gail, I'm afraid if I had a piggy bank and actually put money in it ... it wouldn't even get to halfway full before I'd be taking a hammer to it! ^_^ I just KNOW I would think of "something" that I really, really needed to buy! I am not a good saver. My DH is so much better with money than I am, Thank Goodness! A dollar burns a hole in my pocket real quick!

Lou: What wonderful sentiments! And, yes ... I too can tell that it is straight from the heart! DG is the very first on-line site I ever joined and at first I was a bit shy ... Yeah, you heard that right ... ME ... shy, hee hee .. can you believe it? I know, I never seem to shut up, - but that's only after I get to know folks! And, I lurk on a few other forums here on DG but this one is "Home"! I have posted a few times lately on the hoya forum and once in awhile on the Florida Gardening Forum but none of them feel like this one. I joined the Epiforums website but very rarely visit there. After Allison left DG she told me about a Yahoo site called Plantsofallkinds and I joined but had a difficult time maneuvering that site so I finally asked them to cancel me. It was a free site but I just didn't like it. This Garden is my FAVORITE!

It sure would be wonderful if we could all meet somewhere, someday for a weekend of chatting and visiting! It would be so much fun! A Gessie "Sista" Round up at Gessiegail's??

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I would provide accommodations for everyone if we could just save enough for air fare. You could hear me screaming with joy if I really thought you all might come this way.........Texas is lucky in that we have so many good nurseries statewide.

I am like you Lin. A dollar burns a whole in my pocket. I have a big tin can where I put only quarters. This is specifically for the prison when I go as they take nothing but quarters for drinks, food, pictures, etc. Well, everytime I don't have any money and want something, I think and think about all those quarters and finally break down and go get some. (LOL)

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I'll bring the beer, if someone else brings the brisket!!

(Zone 1)

Well, I don't drink so you wouldn't want me to bring the beer or you might get some wanky off brand, yucky tasting stuff! I will volunteer to bring the brisket! LOL. Are ya ready for us Gail?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Of course I am ready!!!!!!!! I don't ever drink unless friends and family are here and then it is a glass of wine and that is it for me. (I do remember the good ole days when I was young and could party)

I want a year's notice so I can really scout for the best and unusual plants..............I even was playing around on Onaleeseeds tonight for morning glories and I found some fantastic vines I haven't seen in years and would love to have. Check them out...............there just isn't enough time to start enough seeds for me!

Wouldn't that be fun for you all to come and I could grow all kinds of goodies for you to mail home............I really think I am going back to Onaleeseeds online (not ebay) and get seeds for some of these gorgeous vines..............
